Joy Danilla
Art
Miss Joy has been an artist since she first picked up a crayon as a child. She loves working with clay, fabric, paints, printmaking, and incorporates widely varying art forms into her teaching. She especially enjoys integrating STEAM building and design work into multimedia projects. Miss Joy supports her students as they increase fine motor skills, develop problem solving skills, and strengthen their creative thinking abilities. She scaffolds lessons combining "safety with tools" with independent artistic choice and the foundations of elements and principals of art and design. She develops curriculum in alignment with the National Visual Arts Standards, Social Emotional Learning, Trauma-Informed Practices, a Restorative Justice approach, and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. Miss Joy engages her learners through hands-on activities, play-based and project-based learning, technology, interactive kinesthetic media, and integration with individual student areas of passion. Joy loves to teach all ages and is lucky enough to teach Sheldon School PK-8th graders.
